Site Supervisor Mechanical and Electrical (M&E)
Jurutera Konsultant Sdn Bhd (1982 to 1984)
My role was to supervise the project in accordance to contractual obligations, from design to commissioning. I also worked as a draughtsman for several projects.
Among the projects supervised:
Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Alor Star - turnkey project for M&E works
Penang Bridge - M&E work
Klang Port - Supervision of the installation and commissioning of a closed fertiliser conveyor system
The above duties also required engagement with statutory authorities to ensure legal and operational compliance.
Production Supervisor
F&N Dairies Malaysia Sdn Bhd (1984 to 1999)
Look after production (recombined sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, pasteurised milk, fruit juices and ice cream).
Planning the production schedule and ensuring that production run on schedule.
Ensure cost is kept at minimum.
Monthly audit on raw materials and full goods.
Plan and implement a hygiene programme.
Planning of manpower requirements for smooth running of plant.
Safely & Health Officer & Trainer F&N Dairies Malaysia Sdn Bhd (1999 to 2007)
Established Safety & Health Programs for F&N Dairies Group Malaysia & F&N Foods Vietnam and certification to OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 Standards.
To keep management informed on all matters related to Occupational Safety & Health.
To audit plant and equipment.
Formulate and implement safety rules and regulation.
Maintain safety records (Tracking of accidents and reporting to statutory bodies as per requirement under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994).
Draw up and conduct safety training programs for employees.
Organise safety functions to increase awareness.
Responsible for F&N Dairies Malaysia�s Environmental compliance activities.
Advised management on legal and operational requirements in the area of Safety and Health.
Liaised with statutory bodies and government agencies.
Head, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
Monash University Malaysia (2008 to 2016)
Established the OHS & Environment Department at Monash University Malaysia, which is among the leading universities in Malaysia in OHS & Environmental compliance.
Established an OHS & Environment Management System that is certified to the OHSAS 18001:2007, AS/NZS 4801:2004 and ISO 14001:2004 Certifications.
Monash is the only university in Malaysia certified to the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Standards.
Planned and implanted an annual OHS and Environment plan for the university, including health and safety arrangements such as Safety and Health Committee, Legal Compliance, Risk Management and environmental compliance.
Planned and implemented the Annual Training Plan.
Prepared regular reports for the Campus Senior Management for strategic planning and board meetings, as well as the annual Management Review meeting.
Manage the manpower (five staff) and yearly budgetary requirements.
To advise various schools on high risk activities to ensure minimal hazards arising from their work (chemical work).
To advise the Facilities Management Department on legal and operational requirements for compliance with relevant laws such as Factories and Machinery Act 1967, Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, and other relevant laws and regulations. This would include existing and new projects.
Established and maintained the university�s Crisis Management and Recovery programme and team, including crisis procedures, processes, infrastructure and annual Crisis Management and Recovery exercise.
